The Squadron Sponsoring Committee is a group of dedicated individuals, who serve to support the activities of the squadron. The Committee is involved in the recruiting of both cadets and officers, the screening of volunteers, assisting with the organization of squadron events such as the Annual Ceremonial Review, ensuring the squadron has a parade location and office space and organizing the squadron Effective Speaking Contest. Most importantly, the Committee ensures the squadron has the funds to operate through fundraising, grant application, and recruiting financial sponsors. The Committee is essential to the running of the squadron and it is required by the Air Cadet League to have such a committee in place.
Essential positions that must be filled in order for the squadron to operate include a Chairperson, Co-Chair, Treasurer, Secretary and ideally a co-treasurer. Positions can be filled by the parents of cadets or members of the community. There are secondary positions that also need to be filled including Special Events Coordinator, Fundraising Coordinator, Public Affairs Coordinator and Corporate Funding Coordinator. A voting position on the committee is reserved also for our two sponsors; YMM – The Airport Authority and the Rotary Club.
The annual general meeting where positions are voted in will occur in September. All parents are encouraged to attend. More information on the date and time to follow.
